What I liked
The midwives at the ante and postnatal wards are amazing. They are caring, confident, have a sense of humour and make you feel well looked after. This includes the several student midwives, who are also doing a fabulous job. I wouldn't ave wanted to have my baby anywhere else.
What could be improved
The food is awful. As a pregnant/breastfeeding mother you don't get enough food and my husband had to bring me dinner from the canteen every evening as evening supper on the wards was just a sandwich and soup. The food in the public canteen is a lot better but very expensive.
The ward food was not healthy enough, no brown/wholemeal bread, no choice of decaffeinated drinks, which contradicts the advice given to what pregnant/breastfeeding women should eat.
Anything else?
Don't listen to the bad comments in the media. The ante-, postnatal and labour wards are amazing. Yes, they're busy, and always full, but the staff are passionate about their job and look after you very well. I also felt there was no urgency to "kick you out", they keep you in for as long as you need to be cared for. A fanastic maternity department, i would recommend to anyone!
