What I liked
My daughter Ruby was brought in for a Large VSD repair in december 2011. we were worried she wouldnt be out before xmas. Having being in the freeman Childrens heart unit a number of times before we knew things didnt usually go easy with ruby. The surgical team, aneithetist and surgeon and consultant were wonderful, they done the operation perfectly. we were unsure they could do it withoutputting ruby on heart and lung bypass machine, but they did. I cant thank them enough. Also the intensive care staff explained everything to us and put our minds at ease. The nurses on the ward are fab, they are like our extended family and always make the time and effort to speak to ruby and involve her as much as they can. The sisters on the ward go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and informed. I cant fault them one bit. The cleanliness of the hospital is tip top. cleaners are spot on, always ontop of everything. The food was good too, ruby even eat a curry two days after her operation. Rubys stayin hospital was also made special as she got to meet the newcastle united footballers who were doing the rounds of the wards. A little bit banter for rubys dad who is sunderland mad. plus ruby recovered really well and was out of intensive care in 18 hours and back home in 5 days. we couldnt have asked for a better xmas present.
What could be improved
probably a better kitchen area for parents, sometimes people were having meetings in there so you couldnt get in to grab a quick cuppa once youd settled your child.
"absolute excellent staff, excellent facilities and..."
