About: Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley)

What I liked

Thank you so much to all the wonderful staff that cared for me at Frimley park hospital on the 23rd june this year. The level of expertise and care deserve a five star rating. On arrival at the day surgery unit I was greeted by a lovely friendly receptionist, then it was on to the bright airy modern looking ward, where the equally lovely nurses gave me my trendy! gown to put on and checked my blood pressure etc. After that my brilliant surgeon and their anaesthetist discussed the finer details of the procedure and put me at ease. The other guys ahead of me on return to the ward,(after leaving recovery ward) were given tea and biscuits, and all appeared fine as they zoomed off home on their crutches some time later.Eventually it was my turn to go to the operating theatre, before I had a chance to think "oh no, this is going to hurt" the anaeshetist with military precision had put the cannula,"thats a needle to you and I" in my vein without me feeling it, some kind of magician I thought, Amazing! Anyway missed themain event in the theatre as all my lights went out, but never mind woke up to meet the star of the show, my surgeon, they explained the operation had gone well, we shook hands and I thanked them very much for what they and their team had done. Their skill has taken away the excruciating pain I have suffered for nearly a year. I feel great. After numerous checks by the nursing staff and a really nice hot meal, that even Jamie Oliver would have given top marks, I was then wheeled down to the front door where my lovely wife was waiting to drive me home and then attend to my every need, "for as long as I can get away with it!

What could be improved

Well as for things that could be improved. I would say nothing where the skill of the staff is concerned, their level of compassion, dedication, and devotion to their patients is beyond compare, its not just a job to any of them, they are all accademics and could probably earn more money anywhere they want, but where else could they get the great job satisfaction of knowing that they have saved peoples lives and brought happiness to so many families, what a great feeling that must be for these wonderful selfless professionals. I am very impressed with the new heli pad and improvements to the structure and facilities of the building.

Anything else?

Just to say thanks once again to Frimley park for making me well again and for all you have done for all of my close family over the years. And I must mention what an experience it was to share my ward with some great guys from the army and the navy, oh, and not forgetting the RAF guy, now retired. We all had a great laugh and some really good banter that day and I saw the human side of our armed forces, so will probably feel even more sad when i turn on the news now. On that less cheerful note a lot of grateful patients may not realise that when my surgeon and their colleagues aren't dealing with wimps like me, they are on the front line elsewhere in the world saving the lives of our brave soldiers. We are all proud to be British, and proud of our armed forces. And so a great big respectful salute goes to my surgeon and their colleagues. Oh and a big thankyou to all our emergency services that keep us safe in our beds at night, well done. Thats it, i've said my bit. Best wishes, Andy Williams.

Thank you for taking time to share your kind comments with us in such detail. It is very reassuring to know that your experiences with us from reception to discharge and recovery have been so positive. We will make sure they are passed on. We are very proud of the fact that Frimley Park hosts the Ministry of Defence Hospital Unit and that consequently we work alongside military colleagues and treat armed forces personnel from across the region.
