"First class service from true professionals."

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

What I liked

Despite being in excruciating pain the staff were sensitive to my needs and exceptionally professional and supportive.

Following pain medication they spoke with me to get a full history and then involved me completely in all decisions about my care pathway.

When it was decided dot admit me to the hospital they arranged for me to stay within the Royal so that I could get the excellent treatment I knew was available. The only issue was that the bed was on a male ward and they asked me if I was ok with it. They were sensitive to the needs of the othe people who were affected by this decision and worked with all concerned to achieve the necessary privacy levels.

I was able to observe the ED department whilst waiting for the bed to become available and can assure patients coming to the accident and emergency department of the Leicester Royal Infirmary that they are in very caring hands and will be provided with excellent care throughout. A good example of this was a senior nurse walked by me not being involved in my care - they came back a few moments later wit a blanket that they put round me to keep me warm.

Very caring environment staffed by some amazing professionals.

What could be improved

There is always room for improvement but with a very busy emergency department we are never going to get a completely sterile clean environment no matter how hard we strive to achieve it. The turnover of patients does not allow time for staff to offload the pressure of what can be a life saved or sadly a life lost yet they keep doing it.

I am not willing to decry on this occasion a hospital that has tried to improve and has done so significantly.

Anything else?

In difficult times for the service the staff have proven total stars.

Thank you for taking the time to give such positive feedback about your experience in our hospital. Your account is touching and I know the staff in that department will be grateful that you took the time to share it.

Wishing you the best in your recovery.
