"Not very pleasant; unfriendly receptionist. All..."

About: Gloucestershire Royal Hospital

What I liked

The member of staff who actually took the X-Ray was friendly and approachable.

What could be improved

The receptionist was condescending and I didn't like her tone. I got the impression that she would rather be anywhere else than at work. She wasn't very helpful, and there was an evident lack of communication between the various memebers of staff.

Anything else?

I was referred by my GP to the X-Ray department for a private X-Ray. I arrived at the department on a Friday afternoon, after being told by my GP that the X-Ray offered a "drop-in" service that did not require an appointment. I was then told, however, that since I was a private customer I had to make an appointment for the following Monday and would have to pay, though I already knew this.

Upon arrival at the department the following Monday, I was asked to pay for my X-Ray up front, which I was not expecting. (I naively thought that they would send me a bill in the post) It was fortunate that I had my debit card on me, though I was told in no uncertain terms that the department "do not accept credit or debit cards" which forced me to find a cash machine within the hospital.

After having the X-Ray done I was told that the results would be sent to my GP. However, I was then told that since I was a private customer, and needed this X-Ray for a visa application, that I would have to wait for the results to be given to me in an envelope. This took about 45 minutes. After this, I had to wait a further 30 minutes as no-one was quite sure what to do with the results. I was not entirely certain myself, as having never done this before, but I like to think that other people should have known.

I was not given a receipt for my payment, instead being told that "It'll be in the post" and I'm now worried I'll have the bill I originally expected.
