"Excellent medical care spoiled only by one..."

What I liked

My wife is an Oncology Outpatient at Derriford Hospital. I have no complaint whatsoever regarding the medical treatment, the medical staff and the receptionist staff at the hospital. All are first class and both myself and my wife are very well satisified with the high standards in those particular areas however................

What could be improved

.............there have been a number of occassions when we have had to phone a particular person/department, sometimes on the instructions of my wife's oncology doctor, and the phone is seldom if ever answered. We usually have to talk to an answer machine and after explaining the problem leave our return phone number. We never get a call back. This is very bad and causes us additional stress in an already stressful situation. I am so concerned about this that I intend to talk to the PALS about it to seek advice.

Anything else?

As shown above I am completely satisfied with the high standard of medical care, the medical staff and the receptionion staff. My complaint is with one particular department as explained in the above section 'What could have been improved'.
