About: Pinderfields General Hospital

What I liked

nothing about this visit to be honest !!

What could be improved

after 4 hours at pontefract a and e my 12 year old son was sent to pinderfields to see a plastic consultant regarding his broken finger. we arrived at 5.30 on the sunday afternoon. after around half an hour a nurse informed us that once the little girl before us who was seeing the same dr had been seen we would be next in about 10 minutes. an hour later we were still waiting. another hour passed. then a nurse told us we would be seen once the dr had visited someone on a ward and it wouldnt be long. half an hour later we were told they had paged the Dr and they were on the way down. at 8.30 we were told they were on handover. around 9 we were seen by a plastics dr. who seemed a bit unsure what to do once they had examined my sons finger. It was decided to just have a new pot put on with a follow up physio appt. They apologised for the length of time we had waited claiming bank holiday skeleton staff for the delay(it was only sunday) but we were just glad to be leaving and my son could have a drink as he was told not to upon going to pontefract at 12pm!

Anything else?

my son has a fear of hospitals and anything to do with them. he almost passed out in pontefract when "surgery" was mentioned. we thought all was well when we eventually left on sunday evening. however on monday around 8pm, almost 24 hrs after being seen we had a phone call saying to take my son to pinderfields for 7.30 the next morning for my sons finger to be reviewed with a definite possibility of surgery to manipulate his bone into the right place. apparently the dr we had seen at a and e had asked their senior for a second opinion on the xrays and they felt it needed intervention. this is all well and good but could this have not been done peoperly on the night before?? consequently my son became fretful and worried again. my husband had to take a day off work (losing extra bank holiday pay). all in all over the two days we paid over £12 in car park fees
