"Drama on Holiday in Wales"

About: Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust Withybush General Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a friend),

Me and the family were on holiday in West Wales on a camping and caravan site. One of the large group we were with had a really bad fall in slippery conditions walking down to the beach.

We called the ambulance service, the person on the telephone asked all the right questions about the patient and the situation reassured us and sent the ambulance out to us. They were as quick as possible and promptly gave pain relief and assessed the situation making sure the ambulance did not get stuck in the mud. they brought blankets to cover the patient and when they ran out of blankets Martin took off his jacket, a gesture which was really appreciated.

Our friend said the care in Withybush was excellent on the whole the nurse practitioners in triage were lovely. One slight criticism was the person who greeted them seemed to talk to the injury and the ambulance staff rather than the person.

As a group we were all very worried about our friend but were pleased that from the moment we asked for help it was well delivered. Did not put us off our next holiday in Pembrokeshire though hope we wont need to call again.
