Monday, Monday—and an Olympic Monday at that—my healthcare experience was on track for a gold (with a gold star for Dr Bob Shaw). The admin was efficient, the procedures explained fully and the professionals just that, but most important of all.
Everybody was kind. In a scary situation, kindness goes a long way, much further than tubes, gold plated wires and drugs.
The nurse who forgot to give me additional dressings to take home was kind too, but for that reason, I can only award a silver (still with the gold star for Dr Shaw)!
I was reminded of a little poem I learned in childhood:
“Life is mostly froth and bubble, two things stand like stone, kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own”.
I think I managed my side of things and I know that you all most certainly did.
