"I think MSG caused my illness"

About: Northern General Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

When I visited my GP on Monday morning, from what I said about how ill I was the night before - nausea, sickness all night, with tightness in my chest and sharp very brief pain on left side of upper chest - she thought I may have been having a heart attack. She called an NHS ambulance.

When they arrived they did an EKG. It was fine. They took me to the hospital. Another EKG was done at the hospital. It was fine. Blood test was done - looking for enzymes. Scored 16 just 2 points over what is considered ok. Need to do another blood test at 7pm and said results would be back by 9pm. Placed in a ward. Blood sample taken at 6pm and results not back until 10.30pm. Scored 16/17. Indicated no problem and I was discharged.

I had difficulty with bowel movements - visit to herbalist and she assisted - and by Wednesday finally had a bowel movement.

When I was asked if I was allergic to anything I said I was lactose intolerant. Then I thought I have always had bad reach when I eat any food with MSG.

Next day I found I had eaten food with MSG and diet coke with aspartame.

The later I concluded caused my illness. I had two meals with the food with MSG and both with the diet coke. In the past I have had illness from MSG.

Nothing in the assessment at GP or hospital takes into account side effects from MSG and aspartame. When reading on internet - seemed clear to me MSG and aspartame were the cause. It is Friday today and I am fully recovered.
