"found a lump on my neck over a year ago and still no appointment"

About: NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde

(as the patient),

About a year and a half ago I found a lump on my neck so went to the doctors I was given antibiotics and told to come back in if it wasn't gone in a few weeks. I came back and a diffrent doctor took one look at me said it was nothing and told me not to come back unless it grew or more.

Recently I discovered 2 more lumps on the opposite side of my neck so returned to the doctor this was 5 weeks ago he said he meant to refer me to the ENT specialist but must of forgot and the 2nd doctor mentioned none of this so he refereed me and told me I would be contacted in a week or 2 for an appointment.

I received a letter 2 weeks ago telling me ive been added to a waiting list 3 weeks just to get on a waiting list is ridiculous. I have now discovered a forth lump and am starting to get worried yet there dosent seem like I will be seen to anytime soon the service has been terrible and I just now feel like ive been forgotten and that no one really cares.

Response from Paul Cannon, Head of Administration, Acute Services Division, Greater Glasgow & Clyde NHS

Thank you for providing your feedback, I was very concerned to read that you are worried about delays in being seen, and in order to address these in detail, to determine how we can help to allay your concerns, it would be extremely helpful to have further detail.

If you can provide your details to

it will allow us to check our records to confirm that we have your referral, and give you an indication when you might expect to be seen. If you are experiencing further difficulties you should go back to your GP so that your GP can escalate matters for you, if this is deemed necessary.

In the meantime if you are able to provide further detail we can take this forward for you in terms of your Hospital appointment.

Thank you. I hope to hear from you soon. We would not want you to continue to be worried when we might be able to address these and provide you with some reassurance about your Hospital referral.
