I went to get my coil fitted this evening at Beverley Health Centre.

I already had had an appointment with an nurse a few weeks ago who had taken a lot of time to explain my options. Tonight I saw Dr. Rachel McCallum and nurse Julie Garrett.

I was particularly anxious about the procedure but together they made me feel safe, secure and the experience even enjoyable! They were a brilliant double act, keeping me entertained and distracted from an uncomfortable and painful procedure. I was really grateful for the service I got as I felt they went the extra mile, they had plenty of empathy and humour.

I would also like to applaud the service for operating outside of office hours. It is exceptionally difficult to access family planning clinics in this area if you work 9-5 which I feel is a significant barrier to getting correct family planning advice.

Thank-you to all at Beverley Health Centre, but especially Dr. Macullum and nurse Garrett.

Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion about the care you received at Beverley Health Centre Family Planning Service.

The Coil is one of the most effective forms of contraception available and has the added benefit of lasting 5 years (for more information please visit http://www.luvhull.co.uk/contraception/).

Staff are aware that women can experience discomfort as the coil is inserted, and we are very pleased to hear that staff were able to provide a safe, secure and comfortable environment, and diversion during the procedure.

We appreciate the difficulty women who work, study or have family responsibilities have in relation to attending appointments and so strive to offer a number of out of hours clinics in addition to offering those in normal working hours (again details can be found at www.luvhull.co.uk) – we are pleased that our opening times suited you.

Your opinion reflects the findings of a recent patient experience survey conducted at Beverley Health Centre which shows that:

96% strongly agreed or agreed that they were made to feel comfortable;

100% agreed or strongly agreed that they felt valued;

100% felt the care they received was excellent or very good.

Your comments will be passed on to all staff within sexual health, and in particular those you have named and the team working within the clinic at Beverley.
