"Lack of management and organization in the Doncaster renal unit !!"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / Dialysis unit

(as the patient),

Since the full time manager left some time ago this position has never been filled!

Now it seems like the unit is like a ship without a captain, being a renal patient there for appprox six years both myself and other patients are only too aware of this growing problem. The staff have to take it in turns to be in charge, this can't be right.

I have been to many dialysis units on holiday, and Doncaster is about the worst I have come across, there needs to be some drastic changes, and the sooner the better.

Thank you for your feedback. We always appreciate comments from our patients - good or bad - as it provides us with a useful perspective on what we are doing well and what we need to improve.

The Senior Sister in charge of the Dialysis Unit (Ward 28) at Doncaster Royal Infirmary has been in post for approximately three years and is supported by a Charge Nurse who has been there for nearly two years. They are responsible for managing the unit on a daily basis, so we don’t quite understand your comment saying there is no manager. Nevertheless, we are sorry that you feel you have not had a good experience of care and are keen to learn more about the reasons for this so we can address any issues. We would welcome your feedback if you would like to contact the Matron (Joanne Pack) or General Manager (Karen Philips) of the Renal Department at Doncaster Royal Infirmary by email (theirfirstname.theirlastname@dbh.nhs.uk), post or phone on 01302 366666.
