"Dismissive A&E doctor at the Victoria Infirmary Glasgow"

About: Victoria Infirmary / Accident & Emergency

(as the patient),

I have a chronic condition and symptoms that mean I have been to this A&E a fair few times over the years. I'd been experiencing a feeling of breathlessness for several weeks and the out of hours GP sent me with a letter to A&E as my heart rate and blood pressure were high. After triage sent me to Resuscitation I waited an hour for a heart trace, then three hours later when still no doctor appeared, I went home. This was two weeks ago, Since then I've been seeing my GP and having further examinations to find the cause but early this morning the breathless feeling and pain in my back was worse. I went to A&E and really wish I hadn't bothered. The place was quiet, 6am and the ECG and sats were ok so I was basically asked by the consultant what I thought it was. When I tried say I was here for answers as I didn't have them, the consultant patronised me by implying anxiety and telling me they didn't deal with chronic conditions, only emergencies. The consultant's attitude was really bad, all whilst grinning widely. I gave up and said to forget it. The consultant said fine, I shall write a letter to your GP. I said you do that.

It will be the first thing they have got right.
