"My Terrible Experience"

About: Newark Hospital / Accident and emergency

I recently visited the Urgent Care Centre as I was unable to walk on my foot for a week or two.

When I arrived it stated that there was a 2hr 30min wait. I had to wait 1 hr to be seen by the nurse. She was very kind and caring and made me feel happy.

After waiting another hour, I was then seen by the doctor who was grumpy, didn’t say a lot, prodded and poked me and said I needed to go for an X-ray. I then asked where I needed to wait and he told me to go to the main waiting room (his first mistake!).

I waited for about 20 minutes for the X-ray and then asked at reception what was happening as I had been waiting for a long time and thought something would have happened by now. She was sympathetic and asked if the doctor had sent me and I said yes. She then asked where he had told me to wait and I said the main waiting room. She told me that he should have sent me to the X-ray department and apologised that I had been messed about. I told her that he didn’t really talk to me and was grumpy and she said oh is he still like that, sorry he seems to be in a mood.

I then got an X-ray and the lady there lovely and careful when doing my X-ray.

I was then seen by the doctor 10 minutes later and he look at the X-ray quickly and then he said there is nothing on the X-ray and I will be fine if I just keep taking painkillers. I told him that I had done that for the past few weeks and they hadn’t done anything, to which he replied just keep taking them.

I felt I had wasted nearly 3 hours to not be told what is wrong or to be prescribed any stronger painkillers. (His other mistake)

In the end, I then traveled the next day to Kings Mill where I was seen in less than 2 hours and was told what was wrong and was prescribed stronger painkillers.
