"Antenatal ward"

About: Princess Royal Hospital (Haywards Heath)

I was booked in to be induced on the 8th however I was already in labour on arrival having contractions every 10 minutes for over 24 hours. I told the afternoon and the evening staff how much pain I was in yet was told they will check on me in few hours fir next examination. This was my first baby as I had no idea what pain to expect. My partner had to leave the ward. The midwife did say that she could see how bad my contractions were when myself and bump got put on the monitoring machine yet again I was left alone to try and cope. I couldn't get comfortable in any position. About 45 minutes l later j realised that I had been having contractions very regularly and had the urge to push. I buzzed for the midwife saying how bad the pains were and that I wanted to push who then said I was 7cm dilated and they needed to get me up to delivery. I managed to call my partner in my mobile to let him know what was happening and to get to the hospital. I was taken up stairs having huge urges to push. Once in delivery room I had to have my waters broken and minutes later baby was out. My partner missed the birth of his first born child. I also missed the joy of him coming into the world as I was so upset my partner missed it. The midwife in delivery was exceptional and I could not of wished for one better.

Antenatal had no compassion and did not listen or support me when asked. If they had of been there and supported me my partner would of been there for the birth of his son. I would of been taken to delivery sooner.
