I first met the physiotherapists the day after I was admitted with my stroke. At first I thought they were alright. I felt they spoke to me an helped calm me down by explaining why they were doing things. I felt the team were exceptional I felt sure they would be able to take me forwards. Id never had a stroke before but I felt I was in capable hands. I felt well informed and was aware they had been speaking to my daughter a lot about care packages. As time went on I felt encouraged by their communication and was making excellent progress. I always felt I could talk to them about anything.
What worked well for me was the communication from them and the difference in my speech and my walking.
What didnt work so well was the time spent by medical staff concentrating on my secondary problem of my lazy bowel. I felt this was wasted time as I had been dealing with this before the stroke. Overall I have been delighted with the physiotherapists even the little exercises are explained and why for example my elbow is needed in certain positions and with my swallowing. They treated my number one priority which was my stroke symptoms.
