I was very anxious about my colonoscopy procedure as a previous examination had been very painful. On arrival, Marie was excellent and understanding in explaining the procedure and pain relief procedures. I opted for Entinox, though on reflection I think sedation would have suited me better.
The facilities and waiting area were well kept and made it a relaxing preparation for the procedure. The nurses Eva and Wendy were calming in taking me through and provided kind reassurance, and the doctor Mr Daniel was professional with a pleasant bedside manner. I suspect I was not the easiest patient, being particularly anxious - and the examination itself seemed difficult to perform. I found this extremely painful and experienced delusions which were very scary - imagining being rushed out of the theatre to a resuscitation suite, for example, which did not happen. Eva and Wendy did everything possible to reassure and calm me throughout, and Mr Daniel did his best to explain the results - once I was able to listen.
All of the staff I encountered were so caring, kind and professional through what I found to be an extremely traumatic and painful experience, and I could not have asked for more support. Thank you to all of the staff involved in caring for me that morning.
