"Intermittent claudication"

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital

I was referred to the vascular team after being diagnosed with intermittent claudication. In January this year I was unable to walk more than 200 metres without stopping to recover from the pain my legs. Since then I have completed the 12 week excercise course run by the vascular team. The team provided excellent motivation and help with exercises to assist with this problem. Since then I have gone on to lose a total of 5 stone in weight, I have joined a gym where I have continued to excercise regularly to help improve my fitness and strengthen my legs, can now walk in excess of 10 miles in a day with only short rests to recover. I would like to thank the Vascular team for giving me my life back. With their assistance and support I feel fitter and healthier than I have for at least 20 years.
