"Baytree Ward"

About: Hinchingbrooke Hospital

I stayed on the Baytree Ward following bowel surgery. The nurses and doctors were excellent.

I was talked through my procedure with the surgeon before surgery. I was lucky enough to be first on the list so didn’t have to wait too long before going to theatre.

The recovery nurses were lovely even making me laugh as I came round.

I was moved to Baytree into a bay of five beds.

The care from the nursing team was generally very good, although I was left for over an hour in a wet bed on the first day despite requests to be helped.

The catering service was good and the food was enjoyed by the other patients in the bay ( I was clear liquid diet). The catering service assistants really tried to help even when your dietary requirements changed on the hoof.

I would like to say a special mention to a bank nurse. She was extremely busy as all the nurses were, but she made time for me on my first stoma bag change. She was very encouraging and gave me the confidence and assurance that I was managing well. She also gave me some tips with other issues I was having. A huge thank you to her, I still can’t believe you have been nursing for so long, I was very lucky to be under your care.

The whole medical team were very caring from start to finish, thank you all very much.
