2004 my husband was diagnosed with Crohns Disease. This meant he was rushing to the toilet and at times would not make it in time and losing weight. After taking steriods for 12months last year he had a flare up of Crohns due to stress. This led to perforated abscess and he weighed 7st. He had a colostomy Stoma Bag fitted and he left hospital this time last year to have a fistula removed in Oct.
There was still lots of exudate fluid coming from 2 open wounds on his rectum. This month he was admitted to hospital to have his bowel removed. The cut on his stomach was 7ins long and extremely painful.
With this operation you will get a lot of wind in the right shoulder or even get a frozen shoulder.
After a few days you can get out of bed but only eat soft foods ie: mash potato or icecream. After a few days when pain free you have physiotherapy and shown how to live with a Stoma Bag.
