The doctor who did my husband's major heart surgery was AMAZING,the nurse who looked after him in critical care was BRILLIANT......but oh dear, when he was moved out of there...... Firstly, we were told we could visit any time and my contact details were checked to notify of any change.....on arriving at locked entrance we were AGGRESSIVELY told he had been moved( I was not informed) and it was not visiting time, meal times are protected and then they like patients to rest. Grudgingly we were admitted and told to stay in the waiting room where someone would come. Well, 30 mins later no one had appeared (the waiting area does not even have a water cooler), a visit to a very helpful PALS personnel got us admittance and the ward manager was prepared to listen to our situation, was apologetic (which person who answered the bell was not) and then we could sit with my very poorly husband. However, he told us he had asked for an ice cream at lunch time but it was left out of his reach and was then taken away!!! He was told (not encouraged) to drink more, but again he could not reach the water jug or glass!!! The three stars in my review are for the surgeon, critical care nurse and ward manager. Otherwise it would have been a zero. Also the parking charges are University hospital are excessive.
