"‘Coorie-In’ Project"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Maternity Care (Wards 21-24)

(as a service user),

Recently I had a planned Caesarean section at Wishaw General. Having had a negative experience with my first child I was feeling very apprehensive however I a fantastic experience. All staff involved in my care were absolutely fantastic.

When I was waiting to go to theatre I was informed about the ‘Coorie-In’ project. After my daughter was born she was placed on my chest to carry out the skin to skin. This was the most magical experience, having her lying looking up at my face was wonderful. Having delivered via section I wasn’t expecting to have the chance to have the skin to skin. I believe that this project is very beneficial.

Thanks again to all involved, and I hope the ‘Coorie-In’ project continues to have fantastic results.

Hi couragewf59

Thank you for writing about your experiences of the Coorie-In project that we are developing in Maternity. I am so glad that this helped you to have a positive experience and we hope that it will do so for many other women also.

I will feed back your post to the midwives, it really does help us all to know that new projects like this are having such a beneficial impact.

I hope all is going well with your new family, wishing you well for your future.

Kind Regards

Amanda
