I was directed to Steps 2 Wellbeing by my GP after years of struggling with Social Anxiety Disorder. After I completed my referral the team got into contact with me very promptly and I had my initial assessment. During my assessment the person who spoke with me was very understanding and patient and I felt like they really listened to me and wanted to help me get the right support and treatment. After my initial assessment it was recommended that I start face-to-face Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. The wait for an appointment was about 3 months but I was kept well informed for when an appointment would be available.
I started CBT but unfortunately had to switch therapist after only a few appointments due to that therapist no longer working for the service.
I did feel like the switch between therapists was a bit difficult and I wasn’t kept very well informed during this time. I had to call the service several times in order to find out what was going on with the switch which did leave me feeling a bit unsupported. However, once I started seeing the next therapist things were great. I felt like my therapist really listened to me and let me take the lead in my treatment. I felt like my therapist really cared and was there for me when I had no one else to turn to.
Appointments were flexible and I was able to fit them in around my busy work schedule. Now that my treatment has come to an end I feel more able to cope with my anxiety and set-backs in my life.
"Overall very pleased with this service"
