"diabolical care in A&E"

About: Musgrove Park Hospital / Accident and emergency

I visited A&E in the early hours after feeling desperately suicidal and in a mental health crisis.

I was met with in my view hostility from certain senior doctors on duty that night from the start.

I was not taken seriously and was sent on my way in an even more distressed state to walk across town in the middle of the night very distressed.

I was advised by the 111 service to gi back to musgrove park hospital which I did.

Again, more hostility and was told if I presented again they would call security to March me off the property.

I was left feeling totally flabbergasted by their distasteful and disresoeful comments and uncooperative attitudes to help me gain the right support. Later that day, I was picked up by concerned police where I was found very unwell walking on the railway lines unaware and without capacity. I do not have any trust or faith in the A&E staff any longer and feel they could have helped me more than they did. I am shocked at their attitudes towards mental health crisis.

I am so sorry you have had a distressing time and poor experience of the A&E department. This is not what we want for anybody. If you feel it would help to meet me we can arrange this? I hope you are receiving the support and help you need.

Please contact the PALS department on 01823 343536 if you would like to arrange a meeting
