"Lack of contact"

About: Lanarkshire Community Services / Adult Mental Health Services

(as a service user),

After two previous complaints about the community mental health team at the Buchanan Centre, Coatbridge and the lack of support given and cover for holidays and absences etc and being given the same apology, saying things have been learned and changes will be made, it has yet again returned to the same old lack of contact from my CPN.

This is despite having fortnightly appointments to see my CPN then them stopping suddenly without notification and no follow up appointment with my psychiatrist - who had told me to keep up regular appointments with CPN and discuss with them problems with medication. But my CPN is not there. On discharge from hospital I was told I'd be re-admitted for respite twice a year only for this to be taken off the table also.   My O/T is trying their best but is not qualified on issues like medication etc.   I honestly feel like it would be better coming off all meds and going it alone.

Dear Unhappy

I am sorry to hear that despite previous complaints you still feel unsupported by your Community Mental Health Team

I appreciate that it is important that you maintain regular contact with your CPN, and there is an expectation that when individual staff require to take leave for whatever reason a support plan will be put in place for patients.

I have spoken to the Community Mental Health Team in Coatbridge and have been advised that if you contact the team directly on 01236 703404 and they will be able to allocate a CPN to you until your regular CPN returns.

If you feel that you require further information around respite admissions, please contact me on 01698 366760

Regards

Margaret

Update posted by The unhappy (a service user)

I have just went through a month of high mood by myself with only one chat with my O/T and now I'm in an extremely low mood and having to deal with the consequences of my actions when I was high. I should've been better protected and supported. I appreciate your offer and will contact them on Monday. Thanks
