"Gynaecology painful procedure"

About: Russells Hall Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

Attended for a fibroid removal procedure as I have quite a few of them which have been causing me a lot of problems ~ I also have other health issues such as fibromyalgia which was in my notes ~ my anxiety was at quite a high yesterday but i was happy to go through this procedure as I wish to be feeling much better than I'm feeling atm. I arrived & met with the gynaecologist which wasn't my gynaecologist who I have been seeing and thought would have been doing my operation, they talked me through but hadn't realized that for my  fibroid removal procedure I wasn't given either a local or general anaesthesia which I thought I would have ~ the procedure was really painful, I couldn't help crying and after 3 attempts I couldn't go through with it anymore ~ I know I'm not sexually active as the gynaecologist pointed out as my cervix couldn't be widened enough ~ I  felt I'd wasted the hospitals time with not being able to have the procedure done ~ surely with such a procedure you are given either a local or general anaesthesia or at least asked before?? The gynaecologist said that it now has to be taken back to my gynaecologist & all re-booked again which means a lot of continued pain and discomfort for me + incontinence because of the fibroid resting on my womb!! I cannot carry on the way i am atm ~ please advise on what I can do.

Many thanks
