"It was a good experience of hearing others perspectives"

About: Community Forensic Services / Nottinghamshire MBT Service

(as a service user),

I have recently ended the 12 week MBT group at the Mandala Centre. I found this group very helpful, more so than previous/shorter term sessions. It was a good experience of hearing others perspectives, working examples of using  mentalising day to day. The regular sessions gave structure and opportunity to talk and ask questions.

I did find the earlier sessions, when the group was larger, that it was more difficult to keep on track. There were some occasions where other group members were a little confrontational which I found made it difficult to talk and it felt unsafe to talk. I did find that the facilitators were helpful + good at managing the group.

Thank you for sharing your experience of being in the 12 week MBT group.

Your feedback on your experience is valuable to the service in helping us to continue to develop a service that is meaningful, helpful and effective to those that access the service.

I hear what you say about the your experience of when the group had more people in it and we will consider this in our ongoing review of how we deliver MBT.

It is always really rewarding for staff to hear that the service makes a positive difference to peoples lives.

Most importantly for us as a service is to hear the personal commitment and motivation you have maintained in your own personal recovery.

We wish you well on your continued journey.

As Yvonne says, thank you for sharing your experiences. MBT group work is very powerful and I'm struck by the language you use in your post: "hearing others' perspectives" and "examples of using mentalising day to day". Those words made me think of the amount of hard work you must have put in.

Judging the right size for a group is very important and your account of how the larger goup felt is very helpful feedback.

With best wishes.

Peter
