"Lister Ward Communication"

About: Forensic mental health / Low secure services

(as the patient),

The point is, staff are mostly good but communication is bad.

 I would like staff to explain the reason why they make decisions about my care.
E.g. Please tell me when things are being changed with more notice.
Last week something was cancelled. It makes me annoyed when things are cancelled and I'm not told until the last minute. I would like staff to inform me properly

Thank you for this. I can understand why you are annoyed when things are cancelled without notice. I will be meeting the General Manager next week and I will talk to her about your posting then.

On Lister Ward we try and think carefully about how we give information to people. We have developed a system where our ward round feedback is written down into the My Shared Pathway areas. We find that this system is a helpful way of people being involved and feeling informed. We also use specific ways of giving people clear information. I'm sorry to hear this didn't work for you this time.

I agree that when we are informed, we can plan and feel ok about things more. The Speech & Language Therapy Service look forward to work with you and the team to make sure we get this right. I'd be happy to talk to you about this.
