"Great care and service."

About: North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust / Emergency ambulance Tameside General Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

I attended Tameside accident and emergency with my 3 yr old, after he put his finger in a lamp, resulting in an electrical shock. There were no negative symptoms afterwards, however I attended as a precaution. Every staff member we met from reception to consultant were not just pleasant but genuinely caring and supportive. They engaged my son with skill, genuine care and respect.

During the wait to see the doctor I overheard staff being prompted to take their breaks and a reply came that they are too busy right now due to workload but they were hoping to get a break soon. On leaving the hospital we were invited over to lake a closer look at an ambulance, by the paramedics,  my son was overjoyed to press the button for the flashing lights and to take a look in the back. Thank you for your kindness and care today. A grateful father and very happy son.

Good morning Gratefuldad,

thank you for providing us with this positive feedback. This must have been a really concerning time for you and I was pleased to see that staff treated you both with care and compassion. We will share this with the Senior Team in the Emergency Department for them to convey your thanks to the Clinical and Nursing Team.

Although the Ambulance Service are not part of our organisation, we have close links with these teams within the Emergency Department and I will make sure that this is also shared as broadly as possible. Is clear that this extra step taken by the crew was a real highlight for your son and I was pleased to learn that he enjoyed the first steps of his training to become a paramedic!

Thanks again, Alexia
