"Excellent GP's - uninformed and rude reception..."

About: St Giles Surgery

Every time I have had an appointment with a GP here they have been wonderful but the reception staff seem to be completely incompetent. I work as a receptionist for a GP practice so I know what best practice is and I have had St Giles receptionists blatantly lie to me over the phone about what can and can't be done for patients. Today I was told there was no way a GP could issue a prescription through a phone consultation which is entirely untrue as I have been issued them before. In my experience the reception staff have never thoroughly listened to my issue which is essential. Instead they interrupt and talk over me. I have submitted a formal complaint which I have not had a response to and will be moving GP surgery because although the GP's are fantastic, the reception team seem to want to deter you from seeing them at all costs.

Dear Patient,

We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the recent service that your received at our surgery.

In terms of requesting for a prescription over the telephone from our Reception Team, we do not do this for safety reasons so we can reduce the risk of any discrepancies that may occur.

However, GPs are adequately trained to issue prescriptions after having telephone consultations with our sick patients.

Can you please resubmit your complaint to me at the surgery as I have not received it.

I look forward to hearing from you

Regards

Miss A Williams

Practice Manager
