"4-6wks appointment wait"

About: Henry Moore Clinic

Positives - a lot Of the doctors are good and helpful. Negatives - 1. having to tell the receptionist you’re dying to get an appointment that year 2. Having to call every morning/lunch/evening to try and get an appointment 3. Being told once you finally get through (sometimes more than 60 times) that there’s no appointments left and to call again later or the next day only to have the same thing happen. 4. Having the practice put blame on anything and everyone apart from themselves and years later still not rectify this issue! 5. Not understanding that some people work or have children. 6. Can never see the same doctor unless you want to wait an eternity for an appointment. 7. To be told the next appointment available is in 4-6wks is disgusting! 8. To be told I am not a priority to have my coil removed because people getting them in are above me, even though I was 37yrs old. 9. To have to wait 9 months to have a coil removed is appalling due to incompetent staff not knowing their own booking system. 10. To have to wait until I’m 39 to be put forward for fertility treatment due to the constant 6wk appointment wait every time I needed to see someone about it.

11. Although I’m a married adult I was constantly treated like a child when trying to get my coil removed and told “you do know you’ll get pregnant?” Well that’s the flaming point! I could go on but in all honestly I’m wasting my breat as they won’t change!

Dear Patient

I am sorry you are unhappy with the service we are providing and I hope I can provide responses to some of your comments.

Firstly the reception will only ask for details required by the doctor and would not make any diagnosis.

However if a patient feels it is urgent (and the reception staff will not make that decision) a triage call will be placed through to the GP who will then offer an appropriate and timely appointment for them.

The doctors always put extra appointments in every morning and again in the afternoon and this is why patients are asked to call back.

The practice recognises it is not meeting the appointment requirements of their patients but both the doctors and staff is continually looking at ways to rectify this and I can assure that all available slots are always filled apart from those where patients do not attend.

The practice does empathise with working parents as most of our employees also have families and we do recognise how difficult it is for them to get an appointment in their surgeries.

We do have a coil clinic every month so I am unsure why you have had to wait 9 months for a removal but as the comments you have made are anonymous I am unable to investigate this for you.

Once again I am very sorry you are not happy with the service and appreciate that you may feel you need to move to another practice.

Ann Southern

Practice Manager
