"Helpful, considerate, and caring staff"

About: Northampton General Hospital (Acute) / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

I have recently undergone my first colonoscopy at NGH. My preparation and care in the Endoscopy Dept could not be faulted. All staff were helpful, considerate and caring.

I was however, disappointed to not receive my Moviprep package and instructions by post as promised. I was told that a number of packages had not been posted, and asked if I could go in to collect mine, which I duly did. This would have been an extreme inconvenience if I had had to rely on rural transport, kindly neighbours or if I was feeling unwell.

Could an emergency supply of Moviprep (which I note has a long shelf-life), be kept at each village surgery for easy collection in such circumstances?

Another point I wish to raise - I took the precaution of carrying an old towel and a sanitary pad in case of seepage after the procedure, but this was not mentioned in the instruction letter. I feel it would be helpful to do so.
