Monday Morning phone call to GP practice for an appointment with a GP or nurse practitioner, I phoned at 0830 and was on hold for 25 minutes, upon speaking with the call handler, no appointments left for that day, no bookable appointments available for 5 weeks. Advice was the keep trying the same every morning until I managed to get an appointment.
My health condition does not require urgent attention but I cannot spend 25 minutes on the phone every morning awaiting an appointment (as I am at work), and 5 weeks is too far away.
The system of appointments at the Lerwick Health centre must put the A+E department under stain, It is also not a system to that is helpful for people who work fulltime. I thought the Nurse Practitioner system was implemented to speed up access to appointments? The Nurse practitioners that I have appointments with in the past have been very good, very happy to see them. But the system should allow easier access for all (including those who work fulltime).
