"Utter shambles"

About: Milton Keynes Hospital / Maternity care

Just entering our 5th day on

Ward 9 / 10 / labour ward. We have been in the hospital for the arrival of our daughter, it is fair to say that this precious occasion has been destroyed by the experience at this hospital. I have to say there are specific members of staff such as the Dr who delivered our baby girl, the anaesthetist and theatre HCAs ( our daughter was born via cessation). What I would take issue with is the overall management of patient care, there seems to be no continuity of planning between changing shifts, no big picture view of all tasks and logical planning to get them all completed efficiently. We are told you are now waiting on this person to carry out this task, we then sit on the ward for 8, 12, 24 hours until they get round to this job, before being told you can’t get out and go home until ... next task another 12 hours. Our daughter has been laying on the ward for 36 hours, we were hoping to head home (and free up a bed which nhs staff constantly whinge are in short supply) we are now told that before we can leave it is critical that our baby is examined by a paediatrician as a new born. Where was the urgency with this for the last day and a half?

Other than paying taxes to support it I have had very little previous contact with the NHS but am generally outraged at the time wasting and inefficient manor in which services are delivered. All of this then dishonestly blamed on boogie man politicians in Blue suits cutting their funding. Use what you have and do your jobs effectively like the rest of the human race have to!
