"My GP surgery in Leeds"

About: Leeds PCT

(as the patient),

I feel like the lack of listening appears more and more often in the medical world.

I have been let down by this surgery many times and the "its all in your head" is one of some of the doctors best lines, even though blood test that proved it wasnt were ignored. I ask for a simple letter just to say what my illness is, How hard is that to hear, and yet putting this down on paper was very difficult through not listening.

Doctor asks if I need a sicknote, I say no thanks just a letter please. I realised the error with this letter not saying what my illness is when i return home, so rang the surgery, the receptionist said she would deal with it and I would received a call when the correct letter was done. week later, no phone call, usual for this surgery, I rang and was told yes the letter was ready.

Went to the surgery to pick it up and it could not been found anywhere the receptionist and other staff just stood around looking at each other. Then finally someone said its in a box where the sicknotes are and infact it was a sicknote, I explained again I didnt want a sicknote, I was passed a post it note to write down what I needed, I explained again, just a note to say what my illness is.

I waited again and heard nothing until today when I rang the surgery and was informed it would not be done, what a waste of time and energy I dont have. Having had enough I asked for a complaint form, the receptionist said just write a letter, I said then nothing will be done, the recetionist said well you can leave. Which indicates to me if you dont like the inadequate service then go because it isnt going to change.

Its been this way for many years in my experience. It is hard to find a good doctors surgery. I stay because there is a couple of good doctors. Seems ironic the very place you go for healthcare, can be the least place you will get it.
