"expert care and personal kindness"

About: Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

My 95-year-old mother passed away on Ward 22 at North Tyneside General Hospital last week. The staff there and the palliative care nurse who came to help to settle her could not have been kinder. They have a lovely set up to watch over patients and proactively make them comfortable. My sister and I were able to stay much of the time and this was made easy for us. We were able to be involved in getting the medication and care right and were able to get much needed sleep knowing that she was in good hands. We also really appreciated the excellent and compassionate help my mother received when we arrived at Cramlington emergency care 5 days earlier to quickly get her the care she needed and to give us the advice we needed. It was a very sad experience of course but we were surrounded by kindness and expert help and are immensely grateful.

Dear Sadie’s daughter,

I am very sorry, my deepest condolences for the loss of your mother last week.

Knowing that we were able to ensure the comfort of your mother when she needed it most, nothing is more important to us. Thank you very much for sharing your story, I will ensure this reaches the team who cared for your mother.

My thoughts are with you and your family at this time.

Take care,

Jan
