The NHS may be stressed but it’s still a treasure. My daughter recently underwent surgery as a consequence of Crohns disease. She had been scheduled for a major but not uncommon procedure, however, as things transpired the Crohns had caused more damage than had been anticipated and this in turn resulted in a significantly more complex operation. The operation was completed successfully and my daughter is progressing well. I can’t help but think of any other organisation that just does what’s needed without burdening the client. Imagine putting the car in to the garage for a service only to be told it needs a complete overhaul – serious QuickQuid moment ensues. So in general, thanks to the NHS and specifically thanks to the surgeons at Hairmyres Hospital that did the operation.
Prior to the operation my daughter was as confident as anyone could be before major surgery and this was in part due to comprehensive and reassuring preoperative care and to the fact that she had already had dealings with Drs Saldanha and Riddell who would be performing the operation. Both of whom inspired confidence on previous occasions and continued to do so on this occasion. Post operative care was also commendable from all involved and for more than a week after Dr Riddell took time to visit daily to check on progress. My daughter has now left hospital and with all the ongoing support that anyone could reasonably expect. Perhaps the people that we have had the good fortune to encounter in the course of our visits to Hairmyres are just exceptional but they have been consistently exceptional.
So many thanks to the doctors, nurses and support staff that make you feel they care.
"Consistently Excellent"
