"My only complaint would be how hot it was"

About: Woodend Hospital / Elective Orthopaedics

(as a service user),

I attended Woodend Hospital for a consultation regarding my knee which needs replaced. I had a lovely chat with the surgeon who talked me through everything and listened to everything I said - very thorough and helpful. My only complaint would be how hot it was in the hospital. I know we are in the midst of a heatwave however the heating was on and was very hot in the corridors and in the X-Ray Service. I spoke to a member of staff about it who said they had asked for it to be turned off but were still waiting. I do think it is a bit unsafe to have so much heat in a hospital and what a waste of money to have the radiators on when it is over 20 degrees outside!

Dear Mary1945

Thanks you so much for taking the time to post your feedback on Care Opinion. I hope that you get your operation soon. I am glad that you had such a great consultation with the surgeon and that he listened to everything that you said.

I am very sorry that you found the hospital to be so hot. We are all struggling at the moment to cope with the prolonged spell of ward weather. You are quite right that it is a waste of money leaving heating on in such warm weather. We would never do this at home wo why do we do it in a hospital? I will make sure that our estates team are aware. I know that much of our plant is old and slow to respond and I do not know if anything can be done but I will try.

Thank you again. We will be happy to welcome you back to Woodend for your surgery when the time comes.
