"Blood tests"

About: General practices in Forth Valley

(as the patient),

I had some bloods taken today at Meadowbank Health Centre. On entering the room the phlebotomist immediately started looking at my veins, neither introducing themself or asking me for my date of birth or any information to identify myself as being the correct patient. I had never met this staff member before so I could have been anyone.   After the procedure was finished I gave some feedback on this. The reply was that they had looked at the computer before I came in, to which I replied 'how do you know I am that person? '. As a staff nurse working for the NHS  this would be a basic requirement that I would always carry out.

Many thanks for taking the time to get in touch, its important that we hear from our patients to allow us to look at how we can make things better.

Please be assured that I will share you feedback with Meadowbank Health Centre,it is important that they hear what their patients are saying and you raise a very important point in relation to patient information and safety.

Kindest regards

Pauline
