"Shocking service"

About: Alexandra Hospital / Accident and emergency

Called for an ambulance last night and waited over 3 hours - now I’m not complaining about this as I know how stretched the service is but the service received within the hospital was nothing short of shocking.

There were vulnerable people left in the corridors for hours while staff members argued loudly with each other.

I witnessed a patient asking to go to the toilet only to be left as the staff member “had to take a break because she hadn’t eaten” again said quite loudly in front of the elderly lady asking to be assisted. She was then left waiting.

Now my main issue with this hospital was the absolute despicable way my daughter was spoken to by a member of the so called “Mental Health Team”, the guy was an absolute patronising joke and I’m just so thankful that my daughter wasn’t going home alone but there will be people that this person sees, vulnerable people crying out for help who will walk away with absolutely no support feeling like rubbish because of this persons lack on empathy and people skills, a vet would treat an animal with more compassion!

And to add insult to injury, when discharged we asked for the name of the staff member to make a formal complaint only to be told by several members of staff that “they didn’t know his name” I mean really? Do they think we’re stupid???? I will never, ever go back to this hospital again

Thank you for leaving us your feedback; I am very sorry to read of the experiences you have had within Worcester Royal Emergency Department.

I will share this comment with the responsible management team for the area, so that they can be shared with the staff. The issues you raised about a member of the mental health team need to be shared with Worcestershire Health and Care Trust and I can do this on your behalf.

If you require anything further you can contact us at wah-tr.PET@NHS.net or by telephone on 0300 123 1733 - please quote the reference number 41386.

Regards,

Patient Experience Team
