"Ealing District Nursing Service, Mattock Lane Health Centre"

About: Ealing Community Partners - Adult Community Services / Ealing Community Nursing / District Nursing Services

(as a carer),

Yet again, poor service for my mother, that has been consistently poor for over 12 months, with at best incorrect stock and at worse no stock at all!   Nurses who seem to expect my mother to do the work for them, or nurses who incorrectly apply bandages which my mother then has to redress!   Or we have good nurses who are temporary.

My father has even been reprimanded when he was left alone with with a nurse, who didn’t like that fact my parents had complained about purchasing their own stock and nurses not turning up when they are scheduled.   My Parents now have to call everyday they expect a nurse to find out if anyone is coming.   They are prisoners in there own home, waiting for someone in Matlock lane to even care!   Viability nurses  advice is ignored, my mother's patient plans are not referred to and I believe strongly that they have made my dad’s health deteriorate.

Dear Unhappy Carer Daughter,

Thank you for taking the time to give us this feed back about your experiences of the Mattock Lane nursing team over several months, which has highlighted concerns about supplies, turnover of staff, scheduling of appointments, care planning, care provided and inappropriate interactions with your father.

Ealing Community Partners became responsible for this team when the services transferred from another Trust to us on 01 July 2019.

Your feedback is therefore very important to us so we can learn about which areas need our immediate support and attention. I am very sorry that the care your father has been below the standards that we expect all of our teams to provide going forwards.

In response to your comments, myself, our Head of Nursing and our new Clinical Service Manager will be meeting with the team to ensure that the practical, clinical and cultural issues you have highlighted are examined and addressed. We would also welcome your family's input into the plans that we will be developing with the team in response to your feedback if you wish to contact us directly through our helpline number 0300 1234544.

Best wishes,

Dr Chris Hilton, Clinical Director for Integrated Care Services
