I was invited for my first mammogram and this took place very quickly, painlessly and with great staff calming my nerves after feeling anxious about it (hearing horror stories about them) - I might add there is nothing to be scared of.
Sadly I was called back a couple of weeks later as a lump was detected deep within the breast tissue.
I spent quite a few hours in the breast care department that day having mammograms, ultrasound scans and ultimately having a biopsy done on my breast - again staff were friendly and calmed my nerves as I was freaked out by it all.
The results from my biopsy showed that the lump needed to go so I was quickly booked in for it to be removed and a wire put in place prior to the operation to ensure they knew where is was.
This operation went very quickly and staff on the day case ware were very friendly and supportive.
The lump was found to be cancerous so I was booked in again to have more tissue removed and again this was done very quickly with lots of support from staff including the dr and breast care nurses.
I am now awaiting radiotherapy and feel I have been cared for very well and very swiftly.
