"A shocking lack of discipline."

About: Princess Alexandra Hospital (Harlow)

What I liked

The cleaning staff were friendly and profesional. they took there job seriously and took not of rules governing each room

Anything else?

The nurses took no notice of rules governing rooms. Whilst in isolation a work experiance lad had to explain to me why he was wearing protective clothing. I asked why the nurses weren't and he said they should. If the nurses were around when i had visitors they would just let them come and go with protective clothing.

The spent more time on paperwork than helping patients. Some nurses were down right rude. Some nurses just didn't care.

The small minority of nurses who cared about there job and cared about there patients are clearly weighed down with carrying the workload of lazy uninterested colleagues.

My treatment at times was shocking.

I had a suspected heart attack whilst in isolation and was left for 3 hours while a nurse went to get a machine - she forgot me. My mother found me on the floor of my room when she came for visiting hours.

We are extremely sorry that you had a bad experience at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Your comments have been sent to our Senior Management Team for review and learning purposes.

We are aware that there is evidence of poor communication and attitude in certain areas of the hospital but are working hard to fix this. We feel it is unacceptable for any professional to be carrying on in such a manner.

I would like to reassure you that patient care is at the forefront of our mind and to back this up we have rolled out a new Patient Safety campaign across the Trust. This campaign ensures that patients are being put first at all times but also empowers patients to ask questions about the treatment and care being given.
