Our dear daughter passed away on ward 17, Monklands University Hospital.
She was well known there having been a patient with Pulmonary Fibrosis for many years. This time she ran out of time. At every step this hospital, this ward and all its staff in every role have provided real kindness and care. Her final days with family around her were supported by all the team on ward 17 plus palliative care. She was comfortable and pain and fear free at the end but I will remember seeing that someone brushed her hair and plaited it, and that we were offered cake and custard that was like a warm hug. Little things mean so much when all you feel as a parent is numbing pain. Finding such humanity is a wonder to be cherished. Dear Monklands and North Lanarkshire remember to thank and cherish all your people, porters, cleaners, domestic , nursing , administration , doctors and give my love to all in Ward 17 Respiratory
