"Ear Nose and Throat Appointment"

About: Burton Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

Visited after a referral from GP, had a lovely audiologist do a hearing test, was informed that there was slight hearing loss in both ears, but that was good as one was not worse than the other, she then stated some redness and inflammation in my right ear but the consultant would discuss this further when I saw him. How wrong was I to expect the same level of professionalism, care and attention, the gentleman I saw was not who my appointment was with, he stated nothing wrong with my hearing or ears, was extremely rough with one instrument, which wasn’t wiped with an anything, hurting my right ear then shoving it hard again in my left ear, only after being rudely dismissed from the room did the nurse prompt him to ask if I had any questions. I didn’t bother as it was completely obvious that I had wasted his time! As a patient referred by their family doctor (10 years of seeing him) I really didn’t think I was wasting hospital time and funds, if I am referred to this hospital again I will expect to see the consultant or have it explained that I would see the registrar or another member of the team, but to have no introduction or explanation is very poor service and bad practice.
