"My labour in the labour suite,. Hope this is..."

About: King's Mill Hospital / Maternity care

When I called about my contractions which was every 1 min apart 30 seconds I had got told that I should wait and see if they got worse, I wasn’t in loads of pain so they didn’t think I was as far as I was. This I can’t complain about it’s understandable why they didn’t think I was in active labour I wasn’t struggling to talk. Once things progressed I rang up again this was 10 minutes after the last call and they asked me to come in. When I walked in everyone was smiling and made me feel very welcome. Once I got checked and was indeed in active labour they took me along to room 5. I was greeted with a lovely cheer full midwife who I wouldn’t have for long due to turn over. I was then greeted with two lovely Midwife’s a fully trained midwife and a student. They was both amazing and listened to what I wanted. They knew even if I shouted for epidural I didn’t really want it. So when I did say I wanted it they reassured me that I had other options, which the fully trained midwife could tell what kind of birth I wanted. She offered a range of things. I had this back massage thing. We did breathing exercises went on the ball. She suggest the birthing pool which I didn’t even think about but knew I wanted as a option I got in and it was so roomy and the temperature was just right however no plugs in the room worked this I Found frustrated me and stressed me out as I was finally fully relaxed. However as soon as we got into the room the two Midwife’s calmed me down and made me relax. When I was pushing I was struggling the student midwife guided me ( I wouldn’t go into detail how ) this really helped and made pushing a lot more easier. I wish I could thank them both. They passed my baby son to me and let my partner cut the cord. This experience I will never forget thanks to these two amazing Midwife’s. They even helped me breastfeed baby son and kept checking up on us after he was born. I’m not sure if this is aloud but if these Midwife’s ever see this my son was born 6/02/19 thank you both so much.
