"Help with drip alarms"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

How do I get the drip alarm turned off?  I'm having a lot of drips each day, these alarm once complete and then I'm suffering at minimum of 2 hours of varying buzzes. I wouldn't mind but with the headaches caused by my condition its driving me crazy. Can someone please help?

I'm very sorry to hear you've had such a difficult time in hospital. It sounds like you are still an inpatient. Have you tried talking to the ward team about the length of time it takes for them to respond to your pump alarms? Infusion pumps alarm for a variety of reasons and not everyone is qualified to intervene. They shouldn't be silenced without someone looking at why the pump is alarming. However, I appreciate that the noise the pumps make is disturbing particularly when it interrupts sleep and are left to alarm for a long period of time. I shall try and contact the ward team today to tell them of your concerns. In the meantime alert a member of staff when your pump alarms.

When you have been discharged from hospital please consider contacting the ward to tell them of your experience. We welcome all feedback both positive and negative as these comments help us to highlight areas that can be improved. You can do this through Care Opinion or directly to the ward manager
