My wife is being treated for Ovarian Cancer and finished her course of treatment in March this year. Unfortunately the chemo has not removed all the cancer and it would be major surgery to remove what is there.
Two weeks ago she had major pain and pain killers were not having any impact. I phoned our designated cancer nurse to discuss and she found appointment to be seen within 3/4 days. Arriving on the day at 3-00pm she had CT Scan by 5-30pm, a bed was found on Ward 209A for us both to stay overnight. The following morning the consultant gave result as bowel blockage, this was removed by 12-30pm that day.
All the staff involved were kind, empathetic and treated my wife with dignity. Well done to all these overworked professionals.
