"Third C Section and best experience!"

My little girl was delivered by elective C Section in June 2019. This was my third C Section at the The Royal Derby Hospital and it was the best experience of all of my C Sections! The staff on duty on the day of my operation from the midwifes to the anaesthetist and the surgeon were great and made both myself and my husband feel very at ease and ensured that we were happy and knew exactly what was happening throughout. My husband was allowed to be in theatre straight away with me whilst my spinal block was being administered and he was in with me until we moved into the recovery room. In the previous experiences he had joined me just as the operation was due to start and then was asked to move out of theatre before I was moved into recovery. Having my husband with me throughout made me feel a lot calmer.

My husband was able to stay with me overnight after my C Section which again was something different from the previous C Sections, this was lovely as it meant he could spend more time bonding with our daughter and I also felt that it helped with my recovery. I managed to go home a day earlier this time which was a bonus!

The staff on 314 provided excellent care throughout my stay in hospital. The Maternity support workers were particularly caring and considerate and were always making sure I was comfortable.
